This remedy can be particularly effective to keep these creatures away from your hummingbird feeders. Since DIY hummingbird food is also made from sugar water, make up a batch of each at the same time. Enjoy your hummers while getting rid of yellow jackets with an identical sugar water mixture. Lemongrass is a popular herb that can be planted to repel yellow jackets and other insects, like mosquitoes.
